Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy

Artist's Catalogue No: 1056

Watercolour & gouache on paper

Image size 24.0 x 34.0 cms

Sold

Note from the Artist: Montalcino is a typical Tuscan hilltop town. It is situated 37 kilometres south of Siena and is home to the famous Brunello wine. The medieval period was a turbulent time in this part of Italy, so the town has a castle and an intact circuit of town walls.

Manorbier Castle, Pembrokeshire, Wales

Artist's Catalogue No: 1055

Watercolour & gouache on paper

Image size 49.5 x 71.7 cms

Sold

Note from the Artist: Manorbier is a privately owned castle which is usually open to the public from April to September. It stands on the south coast of Pembrokeshire, between Pembroke and Tenby, and is delightfully situated on a spur of rock leading down from the village towards the sea.

South Wraxall Manor, Wiltshire

Artist's Catalogue No: 1051

Watercolour & gouache on paper

Image size 35.5 x 53.3 cms

Sold (commission)

Note from the Artist: South Wraxall is a superb medieval and later manor house, with component parts from different periods, all of the highest quality. It is constructed round three sides of a courtyard, and despite having a gatehouse it was not fortified in any serious way. The house is privately owned and not open to the public. This painting is one of three commissioned by a former owner.

Dry moat at Carisbrooke Castle

Artist's Catalogue No: 1049

Watercolour & gouache on paper

Image size 22.8 x 31.8 cms

Sold

Note from the Artist: Carisbrooke Castle is in the Isle of Wight and is in the care of English Heritage. It is a medieval castle built on top of a Saxon burh. Although partly ruined it is interesting both historically and visually, and over the last three centuries it has frequently been drawn, particularly the gatehouse.
